KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has instructed officials to swiftly develop an integrated system to maintain a consolidated record of assets, finances and instruments seized, frozen or confiscated in criminal cases.
Issuing the directive in the course of monitoring the Department for Management of Proceeds of Crime (DMPC), Minister Aryal directed employees to maintain records based on information received from investigating agencies and court verdicts.
Revised interest rate corridor system introduced
DMPC is mandated to manage properties seized or placed under control during criminal investigations. Minister Aryal stressed the effective use of technology to manage criminal assets received from multiple agencies systematically and transparently.
Minister Aryal accompanied by the Home Secretary and senior officials from the ministry’s security and coordination divisions, visited the Department to review its progress.
As chair of the directive committee of DMPC to be formed under the Criminal Asset and Instrument Management Guidelines, Minister Aryal said the Department would play a crucial role in efforts to remove Nepal from the money-laundering grey list and directed officials to prepare and submit an action plan to further strengthen the Department’s effectiveness.
