The learning centers were built with the help of volunteers and local communities. According to the coordinator of the campaign, Dilliram Subedi, Children Welfare Center (CWC) has provided financial support for the construction of TLCs at 50 schools. "Each center has four to 10 rooms, with the capacity to accommodate 200 to 800 students," said Subedi. The campaign began its work by building TLC at the school for deaf in Naxal, Kathmandu. With the help of volunteers from CWC, Nepal Student Union, various political parties in local level and school management, the campaign has built such centers in Kathmandu valley, Dhading, Nuwakot, Rasuwa Gorkha, Sindupalchowk, Kavre, Dolakha, Ramechhap and other quake affected districts.
According to government data, as many as 4,000 schools have been affected due to the April 25 earthquake. "We are seeking additional funding to rebuild more TLCs as studies of around half million students in badly-hit districts have been affected," said Rina Karki, president of CWC.
Germany based Kinderhilfe Nepal Mitterfels has been financially assisting the TLC building campaign through CWC, which has been directly supporting the education of 60 children from its office in Lalitpur, covering their fees and other costs.
