Speaker rules govt to inform House on Prez insult

KATHMANDU, Dec 23: Speaker Onsari Garti has directed the government to inform the parliament on the insult against President Bidya Devi Bhandari during her visit to Janaki Temple in Janakpur.



At the House meeting held on Wednesday, the lawmakers have objected to the insult against the President, seeking a stringent against the guilty.

United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) cadres had insulted President Bidya Devi Bhandari during her visit to Janaki Temple during Ramjanaki Bibaha Panchami Festival in Janakpur.


Lawmakers including Nepali Congress lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada, UML lawmaker Sushil Nepal, UCPN  (Maoist) lawmaker Sita Nepali, MPRF-D lawmaker Gita Nepali, RPP-N lawmaker Rajya Laxmi Shrestha have voiced their concerns on the insult against President Bhandari.

Speaking at the parliament meeting, the lawmakers said that it is not only the insult on the president rather against the entire women.

The amendment proposal to the new constitution has been tabled in the parliament meeting amid the protest by the Madhesi Morcha today.
