KATHMANDU, Nov 24: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Nepal has concluded that the President´s move to call on the political parties to recommend an appropriate proposal by November 29 for the selection of the Prime Minister based on political consensus was constitutionally conflicting.

President Dr. Yadav on Friday had taken such step urging the parties to select the Prime Minister based on political consensus and for the formation of a Council of Ministers under that person´s chairmanship as per the Article 38 (1) of the Interim Constitution of Nepal, 2007, taking into consideration the spirit of the constitution. A meeting of central work execution committee of the RPP-Nepal held on Saturday concluded that the President´s step taken after six months of the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly (CA) was naturally a conflicting step.

Issuing a press statement after the meeting, party Chairman Kamal Thapa said, "Decision should be taken to fix the date for elections to be held in May 2013, formation of the neutral election government and clearing the constitutional and legal hassles regarding the elections."

Thapa has also cautioned that more complexities could arise if latest situation was not well tackled.
