Supporters of the faction that elected Gagan Thapa as party president through a Special General Convention and those aligned with Sher Bahadur Deuba—who claim to represent the party’s establishment—gathered at the EC on Friday, asserting competing claims of official status.

The two groups stood at opposite sides of the EC premises, raising slogans simultaneously and chanting “Long live the Nepali Congress,” each insisting that it represents the authentic party.
