Holi is being celebrated on March 22 in the Valley and on March 23 in the Tarai this year.Police have decided to deploy plainclothesmen, mobile patrol squads and set up of additional check-points, among others to contain hooliganism in the name of festival.
Hooligans will be charged with public offence if found forcefully smearing colors and harassing girls, the police said.
The police have also appealed against throwing dirty water and water-filled balloons. In order to prevent road accidents, the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has planned set up additional check-points at sensitive and dense areas.
