Kamal Karki, a.k.a Rajkumar, was arrested from the Chitwan District Administration Office (DAO). He was not carrying the weapon at the time of his arrest.
Police had been searching for Karki ever since he escaped from custody nine months ago. [break]
The police had arrested Karki nine months ago from Kathmandu after a his friend, who was detained by the police with illegal weapons, said the weapon belonged to Karki.
However, Karki made a daring bid to collect the check at the DAO even though police had been searching for him. He was arrested as soon as officials distributing the check called out his name.
Police have filed a case under arms and ammunition act in Kathmandu against Karki.
Family members said Karki, who is from Sindhupalchowk district, was making final preparations to leave for a job outside the country. He claimed that the police tried to frame him under fabricated charges.
Also, his wife accused police of trying to frame her innocent husband on false accusations even as he was preparing to leave the contry for work just after receiving the money.
Police plan to take him to Hanumandhoka police office in Kathmandu as the case against him was filed in Kathmandu district.
