National consensus govt under my leadership: PM

ARGHAKHANCHI, Oct 29: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has said that there is no alternative to holding a fresh election forming a national consensus government under his leadership.



Addressing the mass meeting and cultural programme organized by the UCPN (Maoist) at Argha in Arghakhanchi district on Monday, he said since according to the Interim Constitution of Nepal, 2007 there was no other way for forming another government through the legitimate way, the new election could be held only after constitution of the national consensus government by reaching an agreement in a package.[break]



Stating that he was hopeful that a way out of the present political crisis would be found within the month of Kattik (by mid-November), Prime Minister Bhattarai said, "The political parties are holding intensive discussions and I am confident that an outlet would be found out before Tihar festival."



Prime Minister Bhattarai who is the also the vice-chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) said that they have kept both options- reinstatement of the Constituent Assembly for a short period or holding fresh election- open for resolving the political and constitutional crises.



Reiterating that all the parties were equally responsible for breaking the political deadlock, the prime minister also said there is no alternative to the political parties moving forward by cooperating in a situation of political fluidity.



Prime Minister Bhattarai claimed that the government under his leadership has prepared the basis for national prosperity and that it has brought a 201-point action plan for checking corruption and establishing good-governance.



Minister for Peace and Reconstruction, and Physical Planning, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi said that his party has sought to bring economic revolution and change accompanied by infrastructure development.



In–charge of the UCPN (Maoist) Magarat and Tamuwan bureau, Lilamani Pokhrel, stressed on national consensus in the present situation characterized by constitutional vacuum.



Deputy Commander of the former Maoist People´s Liberation Army, Chandra Prakash Khanal and member of the UCPN (Maoist) National Convention Orgaizing Committee, Dilaram Acharya, the national consensus was hard to come by as it is something that is related to power.
