Over 710,000 voters, 257 candidates in Kathmandu

A total of 710,708 voters have been registered across 10 constituencies in Kathmandu district for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5, according to the District Election Office.

KATHMANDU, Jan 22: A total of 710,708 voters have been registered across 10 constituencies in Kathmandu district for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5, according to the District Election Office.



Of the total electorate, 364,000 are women, 346,116 men, and seven are registered under other categories, the office said.

District Election Officer Thakur Prasad Bhattarai said that 320 polling stations and 817 polling centers have been designated across the district for the election.


In Kathmandu Constituency No. 1, there are 22 polling stations and 57 polling centers, with 48,849 voters. Constituency No. 2 has the highest number of voters, with 88,708 voters, spread across 40 polling stations and 100 polling centers.


Constituency No. 3 has 64,479 voters, No. 4 has 76,141, No. 5 has 78,114, No. 6 has 67,759, No. 7 has 67,411, No. 8 has 57,811, No. 9 has 78,495, and Constituency No. 10 has 83,301 registered voters.


Bhattarai also said that a total of 257 candidates have filed nominations across Kathmandu’s 10 constituencies. The highest number of candidates—30—are contesting from Constituency No. 1, while 22 to 28 candidates have filed nominations in the remaining constituencies.
