KATHMANDU, Jan 22: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index closed higher on Thursday after showing fluctuations throughout the day. The NEPSE index gained 9.23 points, reaching 2,714.61.
The rise was led by sub-sectors excluding banking, mutual funds, and trading, with the finance sector showing the highest growth of 2.38 percent.
Nepse stretches winning run with record weekly turnover
Investors in 162 companies benefited from rising share prices. Shares of SY Panel Nepal, Shreenagar Agritech, Trishuli Hydropower, and Corporate Development Bank hit the positive circuit, with SY Panel Nepal closing at Rs 1,710.50 per share.
Trading volume also increased, with Rs 9.0739 billion exchanged on Thursday, up from Rs 8.92 billion on Wednesday. Ankhu Khola Hydropower recorded the highest turnover at Rs 408.2 million, followed by Manjushree Finance at Rs 359.4 million and S.Y. Panel at Rs 329.5 million.
On the other hand, shares of 88 companies fell, and 10 remained unchanged. Kalika Power saw the largest drop, declining 6.25 percent.
