Constitutional Council recommends Man Bahadur Karki as CEC

The Constitutional Council has recommended Man Bahadur Karki of Morang for appointment as Nepal's Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). The decision was made at the council meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Friday.

KATHMANDU, July 3: The Constitutional Council has recommended Man Bahadur Karki of Morang for appointment as Nepal's Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).



The decision was made at the council meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Friday.

The council also recommended Dr Rajiv Subba of Kathmandu for the vacant post of Election Commissioner and Guru Prasad Wagle of Okhaldhunga for another Election Commissioner position that will fall vacant on July 7.


Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Constitutional Council member Rubi Kumari Thakur confirmed the recommendations.


Under the Constitution, the Constitutional Council recommends qualified candidates for appointment to the posts of Chief Election Commissioner, Election Commissioners and other constitutional bodies.
