KATHMANDU, Jan 22: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki has directed Nepal Police to deploy personnel under a robust and credible security plan to ensure that the upcoming elections are conducted in a fear-free, peaceful, and impartial environment.
Issuing the directive via an audio-visual briefing from the Nepal Police Headquarters in Naxal, IGP Karki emphasized heightened security sensitivity and vigilance in view of the evolving electoral context. He instructed police personnel nationwide to remain alert and proactive in addressing election-related security challenges.

IGP Karki underscored the need to prevent any criminal activity within their respective jurisdictions by strengthening intelligence gathering and implementing effective security arrangements. He called for enhanced coordination and timely action to maintain law and order throughout the election period.
He also directed officers to prioritize crime investigation, curb revenue leakage at border points, intensify the recovery of illegal arms, strengthen traffic management, and accelerate the arrest of absconding fugitives.
On the occasion, Additional Inspector Generals Uma Prasad Chaturvedi, Chief of the Operations Department, and Sushil Singh Rathore, Chief of the Crime Investigation Department, also urged all the police personnel to remain adaptive and responsive to ground realities.
The virtual briefing was attended by senior police officials, along with chiefs and representatives from the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, all seven provincial police offices, and other major police stations across the country.
