KATHMANDU, March 14: India and Pakistan are likely to hold talks in the sidelines of the 37th meeting of foreign ministers from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations in Pokhara.

Indian Foreign Minster Sushma Swaraj and Pakistan Prime Minister's Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz are likely to hold the meeting on March 17, Indian media reported. However, the meeting has not been independently verified by any official sources. The duo will be in Pokhara on March 16 and 17 to attend the SAARC foreign ministers meeting.

Islamabad is ready to resume the talks at anytime and is open to meeting between Swaraj and Aziz in Nepal, an Indian media reported quoting an anonymous source.

The Indo-Pak relations have been strained for long now, however, a terror attack on Pathankot airbase that India has said was carried out by Pakistani militants, have further deteriorated the relations of late.

The fruitful meeting between Swaraj and Aziz will create a favorable environment for the prime ministers of the both countries to sit for talks in Washington later this month.

The two prime ministers are scheduled to attend a nuclear security meeting in the United States hosted by President Barack Obama.
