KATHMANDU, Jan 17: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has been unable to finalize its candidate for Kathmandu district in the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) polls scheduled for March 5, as internal disputes in Kathmandu-1 continue to intensify.
The dispute revolves around Deputy Treasurer Shobhit Upreti and Senior Vice-President Rabindra Mishra, whose rivalry has also complicated candidate selection in other constituencies. The regional election committee had initially recommended Pashupati SJB Rana as the first choice and Upreti as the second. After Rana announced he would not contest, Upreti automatically submitted his candidacy, while Mishra insisted he would also run.

Mishra, who has previously lost twice in this constituency and was not recommended by the regional committee this time, took the initiative to hold a meeting and forward his name to the district committee.
The RPP has said it will hold discussions with both sides on Sunday to resolve the dispute. Party Central Advisor Madan Das Shrestha said a meeting with Upreti, Mishra, and other officials would be held to finalize the party’s candidate for the constituency.
