Of the 22 service seekers, seven suitable candidates have been screened for the service in the first batch, the hospital said. All the selected patients have been prepared medically for the purpose. Most of the patients are between the ages of 30 to 41-years.

Director of the Hospital Dr Sheela Verma said 15 service seekers have been selected for the second batch.

At the press meet organized on Sunday, Dr Verma claimed that the success rate of the service will be 40 to 45 percent. The hospital has been providing intrauterine insemination (IUI) pregnancy since long but that has only 20 percent success rate. She said that IVF method is an extended form of IUI service. “A huge number of patients are waiting for the service” she added.

Two doctors from India will assist the doctors of the maternity hospital to run the service. Dr Ashwani Tirkha from Hope Fertility Center in Gwalior, India and Dr Pravin Shinde an embryologist will also train the doctors of the hospital.

The hospital said the Indian doctors will handle around 200 cases. The hospital said four doctors and two nursing staff have received special training for the purpose. The hospital has basic laboratory that is suitable for starting the service. “It will take additional six months to standardize the laboratories,” Dr Tirkha stated.

He said the whole process from selection to embryo transfer will take 45 days. After two weeks of the embryo transfer, pregnancy test will be conducted. Additional support of hormone will be given in the very period. “In case of successful conception any gynecologist can handle the case as in normal pregnancies,” he added.
