PM shows interest in resolving health insurance crisis

KATHMANDU, Feb 4: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has initiated efforts to resolve the ongoing health insurance crisis.



According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, she has called a meeting this afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Office to discuss the issue with concerned stakeholders.

Hospitals in various parts of the country have recently decided to suspend services under the health insurance scheme, citing the failure of the Health Insurance Board (HIB) to clear outstanding dues. Health service providers say prolonged delays in reimbursement have made it increasingly difficult to continue delivering services.


The HIB has stated that more than Rs 10 billion remains unpaid to the listed health institutions nationwide.
