According to DIG Keshav Adhikari who is also the spokesperson for the Nepal Police, home ministers from some 100 countries will participate in the assembly to be held from November 5 to November 9 in Rome. The theme for discussion during the assembly is “challenges facing contemporary criminal violence”, according to Adhikari. [break]
Police chiefs and other senior law enforcement officials from around the world will discuss critical challenges facing the police in responding to current and developing criminal phenomena and share best practices based on national and international experience, according to the Interpol. The General Assembly is composed of delegates appointed by the governments of member countries.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs Shankar Koirala said Nepali delegates will focus on increasing organized crimes so as to take major preventive measures in the days to come. He said the delegates will discuss resources needed for international cooperation, working methods, finances and programs of activities. Joint-secretary Dilli Pokharel will also accompany the team. The assembly will also elect the organization´s executive committee.
Interpol consists of 190 member countries and each member country represented has one vote.
