Handball teams off to Pokhara for training

KATHMANDU, Jan 6: The men's and women's handball teams on Wednesday left for Pokhara to prepare for the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) slated to be held in India from February 6-16.

The teams comprise of 14 men and 14 women players, who will be in closed-camp training for the event.The men's team will train at Pokhara Stadium, while the women's team will train at APF's training center, according to handball's head coach Arun Lal Karna.

Karna also informed that the process to send players to India is underway for foreign training.

"We have sent official letter to Patiala-based handball association of India and are waiting for reply," he informed.

Coach Karna said that Laurent Baudet, handball coach of France, will be in Nepal on January 16 to conduct training. "If we will get positive response from India then Baudet will directly fly to India," he informed.

Handball was included in the SAG from the 11th edition. However, that edition included competition only for men.
