JHAPA, Jan 19: A high-profile electoral contest has been confirmed in Jhapa Constituency No. 5, where CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli is set to face Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) senior leader Balendra Shah (Balen).a
The RSP has decided to field Shah from Jhapa-5 and has formally handed over his candidacy letter through party Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane. Oli, who has won the seat in consecutive elections, has already arrived in Jhapa to file his nomination. The constituency is considered a stronghold of the UML chair.

Shah, who recently resigned as mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, is seen as enjoying significant support among young voters and those disillusioned with traditional political parties.
