Talking to Republica, Senior Vice-chairman of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D) Rameshwar Raya Yadav said that the new constitution cannot be promulgated by reviving the defunct CA. [break]
"Even if the political parties decide to revive the CA, a parliamentary election should soon be held. So, it is better to hold CA election," Yadav stated, adding, "The CA should then be transformed into parliament after promulgating the new constitution."
Stressing on the need for fresh polls, General Secretary of Sadbhawana Party Manish Suman said that periodic election is the beauty of a democratic system. "Our first priority is fresh election but we will not oppose it if other parties agree to revive the CA to promulgate the new statute after resolving the contentious issues in constitution writing," he said.
Central committee member of National Madhes Socialist Party (NMSP) Pramod Gupta said, "Who can guarantee that the revived CA will promulgate the new?”
Gupta maintained that political parties must forge consensus on contentious issues of the new constitution before taking decision regarding CA revival.
General Secretary of Tarai Madhes Democratic Party-Nepal (TMDP) Govinda Chaudhari stated that the new constitution promulgated from outside the CA would not be acceptable to them.
However, he stated that the CA should be revived in order to amend the interim constitution for holding fresh election.
"If the interim constitution is amended through ordinance, the Supreme Court may scrap the decision," Chaudhari argued. Senior leader of MPRF-Republica BP Yadav argued that CA should not be revived in order to topple or form a government.
