The fire has forced the company to shut down the productions of the country´s most popular instant noodles brand for about two weeks. “We estimate the physical damage to stand at about Rs 4 million. The productions from Bhainsepati will stop till the machine is repaired and reinstalled,” said MR Pant, general manager of the company.
Pant noted that the closure of the plant will not impact the availability of Wai Wai in the market because the productions of Bhainsepati factory make just about 10 percent of total Wai Wai productions. “Our main factory in Nawalparasi is operating smoothly. So, there will be no problem with the supplies,” he told myrepublica.com.
Officials said the plant caught fire accidentally, when fire from burner of the drier (where the noodles is dried) caught the furnace oil being used to operate the machine. The fire started at about 5 a.m. and was put off at 10:30am with the help of fire brigades. But, the fire flared up again at about 3:55 p.m. and was finally extinguished at 6:30 p.m.
