Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, Dr KC said that he has extended the ultimatum till Sunday, keeping in mind the request by the education minister, who has reportedly promised to fulfill Dr KC's demands.
"I will start fresh hunger strike from Monday if the government does not fulfill my demands," warned Dr KC, who has already staged hunger strike for seven times in the past demanding reforms in the medical education sector.
This time Dr KC has demanded formation of Medical Education Commission immediately and endorse the report of the commission, as an Act from the parliament. He has also demanded withdrawl of the bill on Manamohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences-2015, which has already been tabled in parliament, until the report of the commission comes. His other demands include implementation of the past pact regarding the selection of office bearers in universities, and formation of a judicial probe committee to investigate the aberrations in medical education and action against those found guilty.
Dr KC, who had extended his ultimatum for two weeks at the request of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, warned that he would be compelled to take a tough decision if his demands are not fulfilled by Sunday.
He has urged the public to pressure the government to implement the accords and continue support for his crusade against anomalies in medical education.
