Four parties agree to share 18 NA seats

Four parties have agreed to divide the 18 vacant National Assembly seats, with NC and UML getting 7 each, NCP 3, and JSP-Nepal 1, as nomination and voting preparations move forward.

KATHMANDU, Jan 6: Four political parties have agreed on how to divide the 18 vacant National Assembly seats.



Under the agreement, Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML will each get 7 seats, the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) will get 3 seats and the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal (JSP-Nepal) will get 1 seat.

Currently, NC and UML are holding a Central Working Committee and Central Committee meeting to approve the seat-sharing arrangement.


According to the election schedule, nominations for the 18 seats must be filed by January 7, complaints can be submitted on January 8, and candidates can withdraw by January 11. Election symbols will be assigned on January 12, and voting will take place on January 25. The seats are set to become vacant on March 4, and elections are required at least one month before the vacancy.
