KATHMANDU. Jan 6: Coordinator of Nepal Gen Z Front Rakshya Bam has accused the Nepali Congress (NC) of rejecting the Gen Z movement by clinging to the status quo under the guise of holding a regular general convention.
Bam, one of the influential Gen Z activists who gained popularity after the September 8 and 9 protest, argued that a special convention is now unavoidable.

Her remarks come as the NC remains divided into two camps on whether to convene a special general convention or proceed with a regular one. Bam said the events of September 8 and 9 were not spontaneous, but rather the outcome of long-standing public frustration caused by misgovernance, and distrust with the state and its leadership.
She noted that even NC leaders and cadres had taken to the streets on September 8 to protest demanding change and reform. Bam warned that suppressing these voices would deepen national despair.
“When voices were raised for change, the sons and daughters of the people were killed and youths were injured,” she wrote. “As we search for a sliver of hope after a long night of despair, the danger is that status quo politics will push the country into mass depression,” Bam said.
She said Nepali politics had moved since the Gen Z protest far beyond routine processes, especially with elections now approaching.
