KATHMANDU, Jan 6: CPN–UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has accused the government and certain foreign forces of conspiring to delay elections following his party’s growing rapprochement with the Nepali Congress (NC).
Addressing a UML secretariat meeting on Tuesday, Oli alleged that as the two major parties move closer, the government has been attempting either to defer the elections or to hold them in multiple phases.

“The environment for holding immediate elections has not yet been created. As the UML and the NC draw closer, the government and some foreign forces are conspiring to postpone the elections or divide them into different phases,” Oli was quoted as saying by his secretariat.
Oli also claimed that Supreme Court justices were being continuously pressured and threatened to prevent the reinstatement of the House of Representatives.
Speaking further at the meeting, which was attended by UML secretaries, Oli said safeguarding Nepal’s existence and national integrity has become increasingly difficult, with foreign interference now openly visible.
“Some individuals have deliberately taken on destructive roles, while others, driven by vested interests, are engaged in fraud, corruption and the interests of foreign powers,” he said. “Under the guise of development, agendas of INGOs and donors are being advanced, nationalist forces are being systematically discredited, and tainted and incompetent individuals are being brought together as part of a planned conspiracy.”
