KATHMANDU, Jan 6: The CPN-UML has expressed strong objection to the recent actions taken by the US in Venezuela.
A Secretariat meeting of the party held on Tuesday maintained that none of the countries should interfere in the internal matters of another sovereign nation, contrary to the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.
Backed by military, Venezuela’s Maduro hits back at rival
UML Deputy General Secretary Lekhraj Bhatt said the US approach in Venezuela is unacceptable under international law and global judicial standards. “The conduct of the United States in Venezuela cannot be justified from any international legal or ethical perspective. We strongly oppose it and call on the world to return to the principles of global order,” Bhatt stated.
Highlighting Nepal’s commitment to lasting global peace, Bhatt said UML calls all nations to move forward based on shared values and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity. “We stand for permanent world peace. All countries must act according to universal principles and the UN Charter, respecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he added.
The statement follows the recent US capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro through a military operation. Maduro was subsequently flown to the US, where he is facing trial on drug trafficking offense. UML has condemned this move and called on the international community to uphold global order.
