Speaking in the party workers´ meet organized by the UCPN (Maoist) District Working Committee, Morang here on Saturday, he said the President should have given the call for constituting a government of national consensus at the time of the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly itself, but calling for the same now is irrelevant.[break]
DPM Shrestha claimed that the present government would stay put until there is national consensus no matter how hard the President presses the Prime Minister to quit.
Shrestha who is also the Vice-chairman of the UCPN (Maoist), said that national consensus would not be possible until the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML come to a consensus on topics like federalism. He added that there would also not be a change of government.
Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha said that although national consensus was needed for the national development, it was becoming more elusive due to the non-cooperation by the opposition parties.
