There were only around 10-15 UDMF cadres staging protest who tried to obstruct the goods from entering to Nepal from India.Around 12 carts of goods entered from the main route on Tuesday night.
The Indian and Nepali businessmen requested the protestors to let their goods enter. But the latter refused to budge prompting the irate businessmen to chase them away.
The businessmen even vandalized a scooter (Na 31 Pa 2985) of Sanghiya Samabhesi Yuwa Gathbandan Parsa coordinator Ishwor Yadav and two other motorcycles during the incident.
"Our officials were not present on Tuesday night at Dashgaja region," Parsa Police Chief Raj Babu Shrestha said, "We heard about the incident."
However, General Secretary of Tarai Madhes Democratic Party Jitendra Sonal said the UDMF cadres were attacked by smugglers. "Our cadres staging peaceful protests were attacked by smugglers yesterday (Tuesday) night," he said.
