KATHMANDU, Feb 6: The Press Council Nepal (PCN) has decided to confer the ‘Press Council Honor’ on newspapers and magazines that have been published continuously for 50 years. The decision was taken at a board meeting of the Council held in Salyantar, Dhading, on January 31.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, the PCN said it has also decided to revise and update the awards-related procedures to make the existing awards system more transparent and effective.

The PCN further decided to launch an Election Code of Conduct Awareness Campaign from Dhading. As part of the first phase, programs related to the election code of conduct and media will be conducted in major cities across all seven provinces.
Strengthening the monitoring of the Journalists’ Code of Conduct, the meeting also decided to appeal to all concerned stakeholders to fully implement the election code of conduct to ensure that the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 is held in a free, clean, fair, and fear-free environment.
Following the meeting, the PCN also organized an interaction program on the election code of conduct and media in Dhadingbesi on February 1, with the participation of office chiefs and representatives, local educational and social institutions, journalists, and intellectuals.
