Addressing a gathering of party cadres of Koshi zone in Dharan on Sunday, Khanal said, “There was a general expectation that Bhattarai would do something remarkable but he instead formed a jumbo cabinet and appointed corrupt persons as ministers.” [break]
“Ministers openly ask for commissions from development projects. Baburam Bhattarai and his government have defamed the communists.”
He said the present government is not a consensus government so it can´t take important decisions.
“As per the [Nov 1] seven-point agreement agreement, the present government´s status has already been rendered to one of a caretaker´s,” he said.
Referring to the death of a goldsmith in Kathmandu, Khanal said the government has become a failure also in terms of providing security to the people.
By delaying the integration of Maoist combatants into the Nepal Army, the government has obstructed the entire peace process, he alleged.
He criticized the Maoist party, Nepali Congress and the Madhesi parties and claimed that only CPN-UML can bring change to the country.
Around 500 UML cadres are participating in the two day function in Dharan. Vice-chairman Bidya Bhandari, Bamdev Gautam, General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel and leader KP Oli are also scheduled to address the function.
