The publication was first of its kind by the government ministry, even though the Act enforced in 2007 required all public sector entities to disclose to public their activities on quarterly basis.[break]
“Though late, the endeavor of the MoF is laudable,” said Shree Acharya, acting chief commissioner of National Information Commission, who released the book together with Chief Secretary Leela Mani Poudyal.
Addressing the function, Acharya suggested the other ministries and all public service agencies to follow MoF´s suit.
He noted that enforcement of RTI presently reels under problems like lack of appointment of information officers and deficiency of budget to train and upgrade the capacity of those officers in performing their tasks effectively.
Poudyal said that the government was sensitive to RTI and was committed to enforce it effectively.
