Patients are finding it difficult to get medical facilities at the health centres and hospitals due to fuel shortage, said Jeevan Kumar Malla, chief at the District Public Office.
Different medicines including life-saving drugs are running out in the drug stores due to border blockade for over three months.
It is noted that Nepal imports over 60 percent medicines from India and locally made drugs also get most of the raw materials and packaging from India.
Apart from the acute shortage of emergency medicines, patients with long-term illnesses and those affected due to chilling cold were also having difficulty finding medicines in the district, chief Malla added.
Locals in the district who were severely affected due to April 25 earthquake now are facing another crisis of medicine shortage including other daily consumer goods. RSS
