Award-winning outdoor and environmental films sharing the spirit of adventure like The Beauty of the Irrational, Racing the End, Tempting Fear, Outside the Box, Silvia- Winter Trails with Matt Hunter, With a Side of Victor, Viva La Vie, Blue Obsession, The Old Breed, The Freedom Chair, Ready to Fly, The Gimp Monkeys, Lacon De Catalonia, Sportlife: Water and Moonwalk which have previously been screened at the festival in Colorado were screened for Nepali audience. The festival’s target was to put Nepal on the map of Adventure Film Festival’s international tour which includes Santiago, Chile, Chamonix and Sydney.[break]
The festival started in the US in 2002 with the aim to narrate stories of adventure, mobilize people through art, adventure, activism, inspiration and awareness by bringing adventurers, artists, filmmakers and activists together. The event also featured various outdoor gear vendor expos and food stalls alongside performances by Albatross and The Joint Family; and activities like slack-line, zip-line, ice-axe pull ups, dry rappelling, horse riding, BMX stunts, 2 on 2 basketball, tug of war, rope climbing, horizontal bungee and boulder wall.
“The festival organized for the very first time in Nepal will be an annual event featuring the year’s most inspiring independent adventure films. We had a crowd turnover of more than 600 people and we are very hopeful for the future of this festival,” said Dipesh Ghaley, Executive President of Himalayan Outdoor Festival.
