President, PM extend greetings on Bakar-Eid

KATHMANDU, August 1:  President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended her best wishes to all Nepali Muslim sisters and brothers at home and abroad for their happiness, peace, prosperity, long life and good health on the occasion of Bakar-Eid.

The Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal and the People’s Republic of China are celebrating 65 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations. These 65 years have been momentous in the history of both countries. China and Nepal have made transition to republic from a feudal system, and took determined efforts to come out of direct and indirect colonial influences.

Nepse corrects slightly after four straight weeks of gain

KATHMANDU, July 31: The local stock market witnessed upbeat trading on the first trading day of the week. On Sunday, stocks closed firmly higher as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index added 1.56 percent. However, the buying pressure receded on Monday as the index pulled back a meager 0.18 percent. The exchange accelerated losses on Tuesday and Wednesday with declines of 0.52 percent and 1.61 percent, respectively, while Thursday was marked by a modest gain of 0.53 percent. Eventually, the index ended at 1,439.06 – down 3.55 points or 0.25 percent against the week earlier.

Six local levels of Siraha fail to bring budget

SIRAHA, July 31: Uncertainty is increasing with six local levels in Siraha district failing to bring the budget for the fiscal year 2020/21. These local levels should have brought their annual estimates of income and expenditure within June 24 but have not been able to due to internal conflict and disagreement between the people's representatives.
