NEPSE plunges 26.07 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 6.77 billion

KATHMANDU, Oct 2: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday fell by 26.07 points to close at 2,597.49 points.

KATHMANDU, Oct 2: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday fell by 26.07 points to close at 2,597.49 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,623.56 points and witnessed a number of fluctuations before it hit day’s high at 2,643.77 points in the first 50 minutes. The market however went into a falling graph and reached the day’s low at 2,583.3 points when only 25 minutes of trading time was left. The market recovered around 14 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, decreased by 4.10 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 6.77 billion from Rs 7.61 billion on Tuesday.


Among individual companies, 54 were gainers whereas only 187 companies were recorded as the losers.


Except for finance which added 54.46 points to its index, the remaining 12 groups had their average market values decline. Non-life insurance shed 238.17 points, followed by manufacturing and processing, and hotels and tourism that witnessed a fall of 128.49 points and 116.99 points, respectively.  


Nepal Finance Ltd had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 207.15 million. Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the biggest loser, while Three Star Hydropower Limited was recorded as the biggest gainer.
