NEPSE slips 10.98 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 6.96 billion

KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday fell 10.98 points to close at 2,677.32 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,688.31 points and reached the day’s high at 2,699.74 points in the first 37 minutes of trading. The index went downhill in the successive period and hit the day’s low at 2,666.21 points in the last 11 minutes before the market closed for the day. In the remaining period, the market recovered around 11 points.

Two groups including ‘others’ and trading added 4.91 points and 4.44 points, respectively. Out of 11 losing groups, manufacturing and processing shed the largest of 148.58 points.


The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also declined by 1.56 points. Daily turnover heavily declined to Rs 6.96 billion from Rs 8.39 billion on Sunday.


Among the individual companies, 77 were gainers while 161 were registered as losers. Nepal Republic Media Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 244.47 million.


Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Limited and Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited were the topmost losers. Nyadi Hydropower Limited and Guardian Micro Life Insurance Limited gained the largest of 10 percent of their market values.
