Nepal imports colors worth Rs 400 million for Holi in first eight months of current FY

In Nepal, a significant quantity of colors required for Holi is imported from India and other countries. The colors worth around Rs 400 million have been imported so far this Fiscal Year (FY).

KATHMANDU, March 13: In Nepal, a significant quantity of colors required for Holi is imported from India and other countries. The colors worth around Rs 400 million have been imported so far this Fiscal Year (FY).


According to the Department of Customs data, Nepal imported 771,183 kilograms of colors worth Rs 404.4 million till mid-February. The import of these colors generated a revenue of Rs 80.77 million. Most of these colors are consumed during Holi.

During the same period last year, Nepal imported 646,346 kilograms of color worth Rs 376.7 million. The import of this quantity generated a revenue collection of Rs 75 million.


By the end of Magh (mid-Februry) this year, Nepal imported colors from 10 countries, according to department statistics. Among them, the highest import was from India. Nepal imported 746,174 kilograms of color worth Rs 372.7 million from India.  


China stands as the second-largest exporter, supplying 24,551 kilograms of color worth Rs 17.1 million. Meanwhile, Australia ranks third, with Nepal importing 1,750 kilograms of color worth Rs 7.3 million.
