KATHMANDU, Feb 25: Authorities detained an Armed Police Force (APF) inspector a day after a committee was formed to investigate the death of Armed Police Force Inspector Santoshi Mahat.
According to police, Inspector Bibek Joshi from the Armed Police Force's 23rd Battalion in Tanahun has been arrested and brought to Kaski for investigation.
Mahat's body was discovered in Kaski, with police investigating a possible suicide stemming from a personal dispute with another inspector. Her relatives have filed a complaint of abetment to suicide against Joshi, leading to his arrest.
Mahat had been undergoing training at the Armed Police Force's Crowd and Riot Management Training School in Pokhara for the past four months. She was found dead in the school’s toilet on the night of February 22 (Saturday).
She began her service as a constable in 2015.
Preliminary investigations suggest suicide, but the District Police Office, Kaski, is conducting further inquiries.
