While DPM Nidhi is rich, DPM Mahara is quite poor
KATHMANDU, Dec 14: Under immense pressure from civil society, the government finally made public the property details of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and his cabinet members, Wednesday.
According to the details uploaded in the website of the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Dahal has 1 katha of land in his wife Sita's name in Chitwan and 3 tola (34.992 grams) of gold, by way of property.
While Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi is filthy rich, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahar is quite poor.
The details of Deputy Prime Minister Bimalendra Nidhi's property show that he is very rich. He has over two ropani of land in Katunje, Bhaktapur in his wife's name. He has said that he brought the land with his salaries, allowances and income from agriculture.

Similarly, he has some 19 bigha of land in various places in Dhanusha district, which has been mentioned as parental property. Most of his property is in the name of his wife Anamika.
Likewise, his wife Anamika has Rs 2,837,593 in the Himalaya Bank while his son Ankal has Rs 29,022 in his account at the Agriculture Development Bank and the family has a cash amount of Rs 1,096,825. The deputy prime minister also has 60 tola of gold and 150 tola silver.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara has a two-storey Nepali style house, one cow shed and seven ropani of land in Rolpa district. He has stated that he gave all his property to a local cooperative for its use. His property details show that he has Rs 80,000 at Everest Bank. He said that the money was his salary as deputy prime minister.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat, Industry Minister Nabindra Raj Joshi and Minister for Urban Development Arjun Narasingha KC, among others, are the richest in Dahal's cabinet.
Like the prime minister and Deputy Prime Minister Nidhi, most of the foreign minister's property is in the name of his wife.
His property details show that he has 7.2 anna of land and a two-and-half storey building on the land in Kathmandu.
