KATHMANDU, Oct 31: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has put off its protests against the arrest of Chairman Rabi Lamichhane until after the Chhath festival.
Although Lamichhane remains in custody, the party intends to resume its agitation in Kaski after the festival season is over.
DP Aryal, the RSP Vice Chairman and coordinator of the movement, explained that protests outside Kaski have been temporarily halted to allow members to focus on the celebrations of Tihar and Chhath.

“Our supporters have suggested that a sit-in will still occur in Kaski on the day of Bhaitika. However, protests in other districts including Kathmandu will be paused until after Chhath,” Aryal said.
He also mentioned that supporters will issue warnings through Deusi Bhaili performances during the festivities, highlighting that the movement cannot be entirely paused.
Aryal confirmed that RSP supporters will continue advocating against Lamichhane’s arrest through their Deusi Bhaili performances.
Lamichhane was arrested for misappropriation of cooperative funds. Since then, the RSP has been actively protesting in Kaski, Kathmandu, and various other districts across the country.
