KATHMANDU, NOV 6: Eight Chhath Ghats have been set up across Kathmandu to celebrate the Chhath festival.
Taking to Facebook on Wednesday the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah said that Chhath ghats have been constructed in Ward No. 1's Kamalpokhari, Ward No. 8's Gaurighat, Ward No. 11's Banshi Ghat, Ward No. 13's Dhaukhel River, Ward No. 14's Kumari Club and Bhuvaneshwari Temple, Ward No. 16's Balaju Baisdhara, and Ward No. 32's Koteshwor confluence. Arrangements for cleanliness, painting, decoration, and security have been made at these sites.

On Thursday, devotees will offer prayers to the setting sun, and on Friday, to the rising sun, completing the Chhath festival. The government has declared Thursday, the main day of Chhath, a public holiday to mark the sun-worshiping festival.
