BARA, June 25: Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City of Bara district has unveiled a budget of Rs 1.2 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2018/019. The office of the sub-metropolis presented the budget during the second municipal meeting that started on Sunday.
The municipality plans to manage the budget from government's grant of Rs 270.2 million, in addition to Rs 330.3 million from thematic grant, Rs 150.1 million from revenue collection and Rs 30.7 million from internal sources. Rs 290.4 million of the budget has been allocated for municipal-level programs, Rs 150.25 million for nutrition allowance for children under social security allowance, and Rs 330.3 million for thematic office. Under the thematic office, Rs 250.6 million has been allocated for education, Rs 60.1 million for health and Rs 160,000 for agriculture.

Addressing the budget unveiling function in the district headquarters, Kalaiya, municipal chief Rajesh Raya said the elected representatives have to shoulder the responsibility to develop Kalaya as a renowned city throughout the country.
“We also have to focus on building necessary infrastructures needed for the sub-metropolis, including trade buildings, municipal meeting building, landfill sites, wide roads among others,” he said. “Along with infrastructure development, we have additional challenge of collecting revenue of Rs 250 million from internal resources.”
