KALAIYA, Sept 27: Nepali Congress (NC) has emerged victorious in Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City in Bara district in the third phase of local level election.
The local level of election was held in eight districts across province no 2, including Bara, on September 18.

NC's Yadav Prasad Yadav was elected to post of Mayor with 10,903 votes. He defeated his closest contender Binod Shah of CPM-Maoist Center who got 10,716 votes.
Elected to the post of Deputy Mayor of the same Sub-Metropolitan City was Rahina Khatun of Nepali Congress. She secured 10,538 votes against 10,372 votes received by her nearest contender Pratima Yadav of CPN-UML, according to Ritendra Yadav, Chief Returning Officer at the District Election Office, Bara.
