KATHMANDU, April 9: A hearing is being held today on the rape case filed against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who is accused of raping a minor. The case is being heard by the bench of Judge Shankar Raj Baral of the Kathmandu District Court.
With the order of the Supreme Court to conclude the case against cricketer Lamichhane from the fast track, hearing on the case was repeatedly postponed. Today is the final hearing on the case. The hearing was scheduled after 10 petitions and two cases. The case is likely to be heard today as it has been given priority.

A ‘mior’ girl (changed name Gaushala-26) filed a rape complaint against Lamichhane on September 6, 2022. The High Court of Patan overturned the order of the District Court of Kathmandu to send him to prison for pre-trial detention and ordered his release under five conditions. He was released on January 13, 2023 after posting a bail of Rs 2 million as ordered by the court.
