KATHMANDU, May 21: A hearing on the case against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, accused of raping a minor, has been scheduled for Sunday. Earlier, the hearing on the case was deferred three times without an actual hearing, while in one hearing the two sides put forward their arguments. Lamichhane's lawyers are not optimistic that the hearing will be held today, either.
Earlier, on February 15, the Supreme Court (SC) had issued a directive order to the District Court Kathmandu to take the case against Sandeep Lamichhane on the fast track.

As Lamichhane's case has not come to the conclusion, his professional cricket life has suffered. His supporters say that he has suffered financial losses by not being able to play in most of the world's international franchises. Due to this case, Lamichhane spent 99 days in the Central Jail. While in prison, he did not get to play four matches for the national team.
Nepal is competing in the World Cup Global Qualifier to be held from June 18 to July 9. His supporters say that it would be good if Lamichhane's case was settled before this match.
