The organizers said the human chain would serve as a symbolic protest by students condemning the blockade which has made it difficult for them to reach schools because fewer vehicles have been operating in lack of fuel. The blockade has directly affected 7.1 million students as the crisis makes the daily life miserable across the country, APEIN's chairperson Karna Bahadur Shahi said. Organizing a joint press conference, the Association of Private Educational Institute of Nepal (APEIN), PABSON, NPABSON, Federation of Teachers, Guardian Association of Nepal, and student unions, among others, said they would jointly organize demonstrations against the blockade.
"The protest carries the message of acute violation of child rights keeping students away from school by stopping the supply of fuel, medicine and many other essential goods," said the organizers. They also made it clear that the protest program was not affiliated to any political organizations and urged the commoners to join the students to form the human chain along the ring road. Although the government had pledged to provide fuels to private school buses once a week, the decision has not yet come into effect.
