“We need at least two days to destroy all the chickens,” said Chief of Kavrepalanchowk Veterinary Office Dr Samjhana Kafle.
Bird flu virus was previously detected on two other farms in the district. The farms were infected despite bio security measures. As an immediate precautionary measure, Sanga and Ugratara Janagal VDCs were declared as bird flu emergency zones.
According to Kafle, the rapid response team has culled a total of 10,000 chickens from various poultry farms and individual chicken farmers in the district. More than 2,000 farmers are involved in poultry farming in the district.
