KATHMANDU, Feb 1: Traffic police have taken action against 39,272 people for driving under the influence of alcohol in the last six months in the country. During the period, 242 people were also found driving under the influence of drugs and penalized.

KATHMANDU, Jan 12: The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has introduced a system that allows drivers to pay fines for violating traffic rules using a Prabhu-Pay kiosk machine. With this, traffic rules violation fines can be paid from Prabhu-Pay kiosk machines at 309 places in the Kathmandu Valley, including the Traffic Division.

KATHMANDU, April 7: Since Thursday, the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD), Baggikhana, has started clearing out the encroached footpaths in the capital and opening the otherwise shut river corridors with the target to complete these works in three months. The traffic police took the initiative to start classes for tipper drivers and helpers following the alarming rate at which tippers have been causing accidents resulting in deaths and severe injuries.
KATHMANDU, Nov 6: Despite various efforts by traffic police to reduce road accidents, on an average 160 people are killed every year in around 5,300 major road accidents in the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley, according to the figures provided by the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD).
