UDAYPUR, Dec 2: Udaypur Traffic Police have started imparting awareness to tipper drivers in the district through on-the-road awareness classes. The traffic police took the initiative to start classes for tipper drivers and helpers following the alarming rate at which tippers have been causing accidents resulting in deaths and severe injuries.
In the last month, two people died while about 50 sustained severe injuries in the district due to accidents involving tippers. Udaypur police have started the program as an effort to reduce such accidents.
“We realized that the tippers were causing a significant number of accidents,” said Superintendent of Police Chandra Dev Rai, chief of the District Traffic Police Office, Udaypur, adding, “We have introduced this program to minimize accidents by spreading awareness.”
Under the awareness program, 80 tipper drivers who have been driving in the local routes near Katari traffic police post were divided into three different groups where they received a three-hour long safe driving awareness class.
