Writ filed at SC demanding revocation of decision to test veggies, fruits

KATHMANDU, July 9: A writ has been filed at the Supreme Court on Tuesday against the government’s decision to revoke the lab test of vegetables and fruits imported from India and third countries.

KATHMANDU, July 9: A writ has been filed at the Supreme Court on Tuesday against the government’s decision to revoke the lab test of vegetables and fruits imported from India and third countries.


Advocates Swagat Nepal and Narayan Prasad Duwadi filed the writ petition at the apex court an interim order for testing imported fruits and vegetables for pesticides at the customs.

The petitioners have argued that the government does not have the rights to take a decision which will directly affect the health of the public and added that people are forced to consume vegetables and fruits with pesticides only because the state cannot test them for now.
